Hungry Man. Inc, one of the world’s most influential production companies, launched an entertainment network this week. Hoping to succeed where Bud.TV is currently struggling, the online channel, conceived by the newly formed Hungry Man Entertainment division, without the help of television network executives, aims to meet the increasing demand for longer form and episodic content.
The company, that represents accomplished directors such as Bennett Miller (Capote) and Allen Coulter, (Hollywoodland, The Sopranos), will use the channel to feature ground-breaking original programming. Mark Grande, head of development at Hungry Man, confirms that ‘the site will feature irreverent, original series from our roster of award-winning talent.’
Three new series are currently being shown be exclusively on the website: Undercover Cheerleaders follows four cheerleaders putting the world to rights, directed by Bryan Buckley; Danimal’s Late Nite Cartoons is an animated series featuring sarcastic host, Danimal, that will focus on pop culture and Phistophicles - a series of video books covering the teachings and musings of ancient Greek philosopher. Episodes will be released periodically to the website with other series will follow over the course of the summer.
Smelling a rapidly evolving market, Mark Grande explains the advantages of Hungry Man TV: ‘There are few companies out there that are consistently able to create award-winning content. With Hungry Man’s track record, we are in prime position to become one of the next great international producers of original series.’ Grande continues: ‘This is not another content website. This is an entertainment network. Hungry Man has a storied history of creating comedic content that permeates pop culture. Our series will be no different.’
Stay tuned.
